The big question: “What exactly is Staging?”
Staging is anything you do to prepare you home for sale and to make it more attractive to a buyer's eye. Staging helps present a home in its best possible light. This can be anything from simply cleaning and de-cluttering to adding color with paint, artwork or accessories. It is also re-arranging furniture to take advantage of views and create traffic patterns that flow. Staging is about “neutralizing” a home so that it will appeal to the greatest number of potential buyers. Remember, Buyers need to picture themselves living in a home before they'll make an offer.
How common is staging?
In larger cities, nearly every home is staged. As the market changes from a “Sellers” market to more of a “Buyers” market, you need something to make a home stand out. A recent survey found that staged listings sold up to seven times faster and for 17 to 25 percent more than comparable unstaged properties. In slow markets, staged homes sell while others sit.
How much does staging cost?
It varies, depending on the size of the property and the extent of the staging. We will be happy to tour your home and after discussing the amount of staging you need and/or want, we can give you an estimate. We will also make suggestions of things you can do yourself to keep the cost down. Once we agree on what we will do, we will set a date and time, then stand back and let us perform our “magic!” It's a small investment with a potentially huge return!
